Public Health Approach to Parenting

The is a joint report of Public Health and Children Services for the development of a joint whole population approach to parenting in the city to complement the existing more targeted approach. This will include a Big Debate social media campaign on parenting which will make available to parents information about how they can promote their child's development and deal with commonly encountered child rearing and behavioural issues. This can help normalise parenting issues. and the delivery of a progressive targeting approach i.e. from accessible light touch information and advice for families with lower levels of need to progressively more intensive interventions for families with entrenched complex needs. This will be largely integrated within existing service provision in the community.
