Yellow Lines Court Ord Road

We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to Extend double yellow lines in court Ord road, Rottingdean, to come in and out Falmer road

The council has just painted double yellow lines on top of Court Ord road, the length is not sufficient, we need space for at least 2, ideally 3 cars there, there are problems there daily, you have left room for only 1 car to turn and then wait for the one coming up to reach the top, but if there are 2 cars coming in one has to block Falmer road, sometimes blocking the first car that came in that needs to reverse a bit in order to go down the road, most cars coming up continue to invade the pavement as the only solution, it s very frustrating that the council hasn't provided longer yellow lines to avoid the problem, there is plenty of parking in adjacent roads. This is a very busy junction when school run happens. Please make them longer!

Council response

Response provided at the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee meeting on 17 January 2017:

"It is felt that the current length meets the Road safety requirements but officers are willing to monitor this and consider this further. The main concern from officers about extending this restriction further would be the loss of parking although a traffic order would allow for comments from residents on this proposal.

In terms of how any further change to the Traffic Order that has now been implemented could be funded officers are exploring the possibility of using any existing or future developer contributions that are secured from nearby developments for this proposal, such as the planning application recently approved in Falmer Road".
