Reduce Speed Limit on Holmes Ave
Holmes Avenue, Hove, is currently part of the proposals for
Phase 3 for the city-wide introduction of 20 mph limits. However,
it's only a matter of time before someone loses their life and the
solution comes too late.
My family and I have not long moved to this area and have become
increasingly concerned for the safety of the kids walking to and
from Blatchington Mill School and for the safety of our daughter,
neighbours & local residents.
Drivers seem to race up & down Holmes Avenue trying to save a
few seconds on their journey. On several occasions, they have been
careless and reckless by not looking properly at the intersection
by the Windmill, causing near head on collisions with on coming
traffic & families pulling out of their driveways.
It's even more of a concern that social networking & media can
be accessed from phones and it only takes one slip in concentration
when crossing the road to end a life.
Please take action by signing the petition to support the 20 mph
speed limit in line with other school roads and ask that highly
visible ‘give way’ or ‘stop’ signs be
placed at relevant points at the windmill junction.
By doing so, you will help to make it a safer community for
all.
