Improve Farm Green Playground

We the undersigned petition Brighton & Hove Council to call upon Brighton and Hove council's statement (2015) "we recognise the importance of play in the development of children and young people and we're committed to improving play spaces around the city to make them more exciting and challenging" And ask them to take action in reviewing and renovating the Farm Green Playground

Bevendean is the forgotten corner of Brighton. The council's lack of action to maintain the playground has led to a slow decline rendering the park almost derelict, unsafe and with families unwilling to use it. This has led to destruction and vandalism of the remaining equipment. However, Bevendean is a family orientated area full of people committed to improving the area and we will do what we can to ensure that our children have a safe, exciting and challenging place to play.

Council response

“Thank you for your petition and we do recognise the importance of play spaces to the development of children and young people.

As part of the background work progressing for the new Open Spaces Strategy, a review is being undertaken of all the play areas in the city. This review will help inform future decisions on the investment in play areas in light of the reducing financial resources available.

In the meantime, city parks officers have met with the friends group on two occasions and are working with them to improve the play equipment at Farm Green.

I’d like to thank you all for your involvement and very much hope that the council and the local community can continue to work on getting some improvements to the Playground.”
