Proper parking consultation
Currently some Brighton and Hove residents paying nothing for parking controls (in single hour parking restriction zones), others paying reduced rates for residents parking permits (in double hour parking restriction zones) and others paying the equivalent of an extra month's council tax each year. This is chaotic, confusing and unfair. Residents should be able to have a say in the type of parking scheme and the times it is applicable for their area.

Council response
Response provided by the Chair of the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee on 13 October 2015:
“When consulting on potential parking schemes, the city council consults over a wide area and will only do so following clear support for such a consultation to take place.
Residents are offered the chance to express a preference on the times of enforcement and to propose different types of parking controls.
The consultation is a two-stage process so residents that will
be living in roads where it is proposed to implement a scheme have
a further opportunity to comment once the detailed designs have
been done and Traffic Regulation Orders published”.
