20 mph speed limit for Hollingbury Park Avenue

We the undersigned petition the council to review the current speed limit on Hollingbury Park Avenue with a view to reducing it to 20 mph

HPA is used as a 'rat-run' by motorists avoiding the queue for the Fiveways traffic lights on Ditchling Road. They often drive at speeds which pose a danger to the many children living and playing in the street.

Will be presented to Transport Committee on 27 November 2012

Council response

Response provided by the Chair of the Transport Committee on 27 November 2012:

"Hollingbury Park Avenue is currently part of the proposals for Phase 3 (financial year 2014/15) for the city-wide introduction of 20mph limits, the first Phase of which is to be considered by the Transport Committee this evening. Officers will then review how we take forward subsequent phases based on experience from implementing the first phase and subject to support from residents so we can provide the right solution. I anticipate the next set of proposals to come to Transport Committee early next year".
